Author Biographies

Amber Carini, University of California - Berkeley

Amber Carini graduated from UC Berkeley in May 2003 with a major in English and a minor in Creative Writing. A writing tutor for four years, she currently works at a distributor of independently published books in Berkeley, CA. Her future plans include pursuing an MFA in CreativeWriting.

Sarah Haufrecht, University of California - Berkeley

Sarah Haufrecht will be graduating from UC Berkeley in 2004 with a major in English and a minor in Creative Writing. She is the editor of the literary magazine, The Berkeley Fiction Review, as well as the program director of Democratic Education at Cal (De-Cal)- a program that facilitates student-coordinated courses on the UC Berkeley campus. She plans to pursue a career in the publishing industry.

Bina Patel, University of California - Berkeley

Bina Patel graduated from UC Berkeley in December 2002 with a double major in English and Economics. While at UC Berkeley, she spent two years working in several capacities as a writing tutor at the Student Learning Center. Currently employed at a benefits consulting firm, Bina plans to attend graduate school to study something related to writing or language in the next couple of years.

Andrea Ruiz, University of California - Berkeley

Andrea Ruiz graduated from UC Berkeley in May 2003 with a major in Rhetoric. A writing tutor for three years in various capacities at the Student Learning Center, she plans to work for Making Waves, an organization dedicated to preparing urban youth for a college career, while she searches for a Ph.D. program that will incorporate her passion for teaching writing and her fascination with Critical Theory and Semiotics.

Nithan Sannappa, University of California - Berkeley

Nithan Sannapa graduated from UC Berkeley inMay of 2003, and is off to Cambridge fall 2003.
